Choose the Right Photographer

Choosing the right photographer for your portrait session is no small task. You want to find someone who can bring out your natural beauty, capture authentic moments, and do so in a setting that feels just right for you. I’ve been doing photography since 2009, with a particular focus on portraits, landscapes, and boudoir, and here’s my take on how to choose a photographer and location that will make your session shine.

1. Find a Photographer Whose Style Speaks to You

One of the most important things to look for is a photographer whose style resonates with you. My own style leans towards the cinematic, with a love for natural light. I especially enjoy the soft glow of golden hour, but I believe any light can be beautiful if it’s diffused and softened the right way. I prefer a photojournalistic approach, capturing moments that feel unposed, observant, and full of atmosphere. If you want portraits that feel like they tell a story, then this could be the right style for you.

2. Choose a Location That Feels Personal and Inspiring

I

often shoot in some of the most stunning natural locations around Las Vegas. Whether it’s the serene landscapes of Floyd Lamb Park, the dramatic red rocks of Red Rock Canyon, or the breathtaking views at Valley of Fire, I’m drawn to settings that are full of beauty and atmosphere. Outdoor shoots offer the kind of natural light I love, but I’m always open to exploring new places that are meaningful to you. In fact, I believe the best photos come from locations that have a personal connection or evoke a special feeling.

3. Go for Natural, Authentic Moments

For me, the key to a great portrait is a natural look. I’m not a fan of stiff poses; instead, I like to keep things fluid and easy, capturing the real emotions and interactions that unfold during a session. Whether we’re shooting a quiet moment in a park or a playful laugh during a sunset, I focus on drawing out genuine feelings in every shot. It’s all about creating an atmosphere where you feel comfortable and the emotion of the moment comes through naturally.

4. Know the Process Before You Book

When booking with me, I’ll always make recommendations to help guide the session, but I also enjoy working in various locations to find the perfect fit for your vision. After the shoot, you can expect finished, high-quality photos delivered within a week or two. I believe in taking the time to ensure every image has the natural, cinematic feel I aim for, so the results are well worth the wait.

5. Why I Love Portrait Photography

Portrait photography is about more than just capturing a face—it’s about telling a story and drawing out emotions. I love being able to freeze a moment in time, capturing the feeling behind it, and presenting it in a way that resonates with the viewer. Every shoot is a chance to create something unique and meaningful, and that’s what keeps me passionate about photography after all these years.
